Students had an extraordinary experience when the pilgrim statue of Our Lady of the Cape (Canada) made its way during a 5-month tour throughout the United States and came to St. John's Church in St. Johnsbury. Many of these children will probably never travel to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Cape in Trois Rivières, Canada. The guardians of the pilgrim statue spoke to the kids and gave them blessed rose petals. Learning about devotions around the world expands the cultural and faith horizons for these students who come from small town Vermont and New Hampshire. I hope that some day they will remember what an honor it was for them to be here for this visit and how Marian devotions enrich our Catholic Faith.
