Principal’s Weekly Letter

Friday, November 14, 2008
Dear Parents,

On Tuesday, November 25th, Good Shepherd's students (grades 1-8) and staff and some of our School Board members and some of the founders of Good Shepherd will celebrate our traditional Thanksgiving Feast here in the gym.  We would appreciate donations of turkeys (15 pounds or more).  If you can provide a turkey for our feast, please call the office by Monday, November 17th.  Thank you.  Any turkey-donors or volunteers who help out in the classrooms that morning or in the kitchen preparing or cleaning up are encouraged to join in the Thanksgiving Feast.

Next week you will get more information from your child(ren) about the preparations for the feast.  The different classes prepare different components for the meal.

Classes will be making the following for the feast:
                1st Grade: Stuffing
                2nd Grade: Bread/Rolls
                3rd Grade: Carrots
                4th Grade: Cider and corn
                5th Grade: Pumpkin dessert
                6th Grade:  Potatoes
                7th & 8th Grade:  Apple crisp

                                                                                                                                                                                 Peace,
                                                                                                                                                                                Bob Gessner

From Kelly Urie:
There will be a 5K run/walk on Wednesday, November 26th.  Walkers leave from the St. Johnsbury Academy Field House at 8:30 a.m., and runners leave from the Field House at 9 a.m.  This is a fun time, and the cost is free.

The t-shirt design is usually cute, and this year will be a long-sleeve white, quick-dry shirt.  If you want to order a shirt the cost is $20.  Have orders to me via e-mail (kurie@stjacademy.org)  by the end of the day, next Tuesday, November 18th.  Be sure to include size and favorite # for the back.

January 14, 2008

Happy New Year to you and your family from the Good Shepherd Staff and Board.  We wish you a healthy and peaceful 2008.

Good Shepherd Catholic School parent Scott Wells, President of the Cambium Group, and his staff have designed our Good Shepherd web site, which has just gone on-line.  Janet Edmondson and a small group of parents (an ad hoc web site committee) have been meeting, offering ideas and input, and GSCS staff received web site training from Scott and a Cambium Group partner in mid-December.  The creation of our web site is exciting and should prove to be a help to all of us, as well as to local and out-of-area folks who are considering sending their child(ren) to this fine Catholic school.

We hope that you enjoy this new technological adventure.  Please be patient while we all stretch our skills, hoping to expand our communication with each other and with the world.

     Peace be with you,

                      Bob Gessner
