March/April 2009 ”Good News”letter | | Friday, March 27, 2009 Good News continues to pour in from the north...
As the month of March goes out, we welcome April, with its many special events...
* Many thanks to all who participated in last week's "Spring Into Wellness" Health Fair sponsored by the PTG. We had an impressive roomful of exhibitors, a concert, a hip-hop fitness demonstration, healthy snacks and more, that were enjoyed by a number of students and parents.
* After a successful showing at Good Shephed's Shelby Noyes Memorial Science Fair, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders participated in a day of learning and displaying at Lyndon State College, where four of them took top honors in the competition. Michele Mackay (grade 7) and Kara Downing (grade 6) were awarded 1st place in the 7th/8th grade and 5th/6th grade divisions. Isaac Woods took 2nd place honors and Brandon Wells received 3rd place in the 5th/6th grade division as well. Here's a glimpse of the day's activities...
Students "putting their heads together" for science... Katie and Patrick discuss their projects with the judges. Aspiring meteorologists of all ages! Here's a look ahead to April...
* The Scholastic Book Fair begins on Wednesday, April 1st and continues until Monday, April 6th. The Book Fair will be open during the PTG Pancake Breakfast on Sunday April 5th. See you all there!
* On Thursday, April 9th, the 8th grade students will present the "Living Stations" of the Cross at St. John the Evangelist Church at 1:45 pm. All are welcome to join us in this Holy Week tradition featuring meditation and music.
* There is no school on Good Friday, April 10th, and the following week is April vacation. Have a beautiful Easter week!
* Upon our return to school, during the week of April 20th we will see our classrooms transformed into "biomes" representing the various geographic and climate zones found on our planet.
* The PTG Rummage Sale will be held on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th. Check the "Calendar/Events" page for more details, and start your spring cleaning early. Thank you for dropping off good, usable items/clothing beginning on Tuesday, April 21st. * Check back in coming weeks for updated photos and news!
