Friday, March 13, 2009 March brings new seasons... We find ourselves celebrating new seasons during the month of March. We've already begun the liturgical season of Lent, and will soon welcome Spring with open arms and open windows! This month's news begins with a look back at our February celebrations...  Wrapping up a great Winter Sports season...

Celebrating the 100th Day of School!
 Making and sharing Valentines Day cards and treats Congratulations and thanks to Mrs. Gingue and the many parents who helped to put on yet another spectacular Father-Daughter Dance held on Valentines Day weekend. It was a full house with dads and daughters of all ages celebrating in style! Many thanks to Miss Comtois and Miss Stahler for organizing and cooridinating efforts to celebrate Mardi Gras with our Good Shepherd community. Thanks to teachers and classes for preparing such creative activities for our families. It was a fun-filled, food-filled, family event enjoyed by all! On to March news... Congratulations to our school basketball teams on wrapping up very exciting, successful seasons. Thanks to all who have supported our student atheletes in so many ways. Congratulations also, to the 14 Good Shepherd musicians who represented the school at the NEK District Middle School Music Festival in Newport, VT on Friday, March 6th. 7 singers and 7 band members engaged in day-long rehearsals culminating in a truly impressive evening performance. The Shelby Noyes Memorial Science Fair was held on March 12th and included very interesting, well-presented projects by our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  Our student scientists traveled to Lyndon State College on Friday, March 13th and received a number of awards - please check back for details and photos from this regional Science Fair. * Good Shepherd will host a "Spring Into Wellness" Health Fair on Friday, March 20th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm in the school gym. A variety of health-related screenings and resources will be available, as well as presentations about nutirition, recreation, and healthy activities. Local musician/educator James Lamar will be performing on stage at 3:30. His program will include songs from his "Healthy Me" CD, many of which our younger students know. Sing-along, or get up and move during this very special concert! CDs will be available for purchase during the fair. Jen Brown will lead a fun, fitness class using "Shaun T's Fit Kids" DVD. This workout features hip-hop dance moves, and kids of all ages are invited to participate on stage with Jen, or in the front of the gym. DVDs will be available for purchase during the fair. All are welcome - stop in after school for a while, tell your friends and family, and join us as we gear up for that first day of SPRING. * the GSCS PTG meets on Tuesday, March 17th at 3:30 in the student center (upstairs). Please check the "PTG" page on the Parent Place for details and the agenda. * the PTG is sponsoring a Movie Night featuring "A Night at the Museum" on Friday, March 27th. Check the "Calendar/Events" page for more information and plan to join in the family fun! * Our 7th grade students will spend the afternoon of March 24th at the St. Johnsbury Academy for a special "Arts Day," allowing them to experience a variety of music, art, dance, and theater activities. This annual event is always an exciting learning opportunity for our students. Please check back for updates and new photos!
