We've entered the season of Lent, as we bid farewell to winter and welcome spring...

Our Lenten season began with the celebration of Ash Wednesday, as Bishop Salvatore Matano joined us for Mass.  He asked many questions of our children, all of whom responded sincerely and enthusiastically.  Each Mass is a celebration of our faith and community, but this one in particular gave us time to pause and reflect on just how blest we are here at Good Shepherd.

Our school life has been far from quiet however, as we returned from February vacation just in time to wrap up basketball season.  All of our teams played very well this season, and we cannot thank our coaches enough.  The 4 - 6 grade girls team was coached by Bonnie Gadapee and Cindy Willis, 4 - 5 grade boys by Marc Choiniere and Dale Urie.  Our middle school teams were coached by Celise Johnson and Sandra Rankin (girls) and Dan & Brendan Hughes (boys).  The girls played two games into the Rotary Tournament, and the boys made it through three games this year.  Special recognition goes to 8th grader Mason Lantz, who scored his 500th point for this season, and his 1000th point for his GSCS career, during these past few weeks.  This is a HUGE accomplishment by one of our finest athletes.

Eighteen of our GSCS musicians participated in the NEK District Middle School Music Festival in Newport, Vermont on Friday, March 5th.  7 students played in the band, and 11 sang in the chorus.  A highlight of the evening's performance was the chorus' opening number which featured our own Tom Keon and Lucas Prevost as soloists!  All of our students represented GSCS well, had fun, learned a lot, and enthusiastically shared their God-given talents.

Excitement is growing about our upcoming "Sweet Charity" Auction, which begins with a launch party on Saturday, April 10th.  There will be a silent auction that evening, followed by an on-line auction through Bidding for Good (www.biddingforgood.com) that will continue until May 1st. Please check the announcements area on the home page (and school families - look for emails!) for more information.
