Summer Good News | | Thursday, July 1, 2010 Congratulations to the GSCS Class of 2010!

On Friday evening, June 11th, Good Shepherd sent 17 graduates out into the world, full of wisdom, spirit, and a lot of great memories of their years here. Their Graduation Mass was a grace-full event, and the 7th (now 8th!) graders and their families gave the grads a joyful reception back at school. We're so proud of these students, and wish them the very best. Of course, just before graduation, the 8th graders arrived to morning assembly "in style" and WAY "out of code." Thankfully, the fashion police were on duty, and the mayhem was kept to a minimum... Sooooo out of code!
Thankfully, the Fashion Police were on a mission from God...
The end of the school year was bustling with activity, including class trips, our annual Spring Concert, a fabulous year-end cookout from the PTG, and Biome Week. The 5th grade, under the direction of Mrs. Jolliffe and Miss Emma Haskins, presented a very creative culminating activity in the form of a play, for which students researched animals of the Great Northern Forest, and scripted their own parts. Costumes and scenery added to the production gave the audience a feeling of spending time in the forest and getting to know our animal neighbors there. Congratulations to the class - great job!
Runners and walkers! Hope you are getting ready for the 2010 "Kingdom Challenge" to be held on Saturday, October 30th. It is never too late (or for some of us, never too early!) to start training for the half-marathon run, or 5K walk/run. Last year our participation doubled, with more than 400 participants of all ages crossing the finish line. To register, or for more information go to: www.thekingdomchallenge.com and have a happy, healthy summer!
