Principal’s Weekly LetterFriday, November 6, 2009 We will be celebrating Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11 by attending the parade at 10:00 in St. Johnsbury. Students are encouraged to wear red accessories (ties, headbands, tights, etc.) with their regular Good Shepherd uniform. As part of our celebration, we will be talking about our friends and family members that are veterans. Please take the time this weekend to tell your children about the veterans in your families. · Just a reminder – students will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday for our monthly faculty in-service. On Thursday, we will be observing the feast of St. Martin. We are told that he once cut his cloak in half to clothe a freezing beggar. That night he had a vision of Christ wearing his cloak and was converted to Christianity. In honor of St. Martin, we will be having a casual day on Thursday, November 12. Instead of money, we ask that students bring an article of used warm clothing (jackets, snowpants, sweaters, hats, etc.) We will be donating these items to the Salvation Army to be given to those in need. You should be receiving a copy of the Good Shepherd Annual Report from your child’s teacher. Check those backpacks and read all about the wonderful things happening at Good Shepherd. Next Friday, November 13th a nurse from the VT Department of Health will be at Good Shepherd to administer the H1N1 vaccine for those of you who have requested it for your child(ren). Good Shepherd will receive a limited number of vaccines, so students will be given the vaccine in the order that the permission slips were turned in. Currently, we are scheduled to receive 60 vaccines and 73 students are signed up. We hope we will be able to get enough vaccines for those who have signed up, but we are not sure at this time. Have a wonderful weekend, Karen
