Principal’s Weekly LetterFriday, October 23, 2009 We are so proud of our Good Shepherd students this week. Our soccer teams finished their seasons, and both teams did very well. Our 6-8 team finished the season undefeated! Thank you to our wonderful coaches who made this program possible. Our young artists were featured in a student art show during parent conferences this week. It was a very elegant event featuring hors d’oeuvres and exceptional artwork. Thank you to Mrs. Bostic for hosting this lovely evening and inspiring so many Good Shepherd artists. We have been celebrating the Month of the Holy Rosary by praying a decade of the rosary each morning during assembly. Mrs. Hughes taught us about the history of the rosary, and our eighth grade students have been leading us in prayer each morning. We even had some of our recent graduates visit from the Academy and lead us in prayer last week. It was wonderful to see them – what great role models for our younger students. The Kingdom Challenge is just a week away. Please fill out a registration form and join us on Saturday, October 31. Even if you are not a marathon runner, you will enjoy walking (or running) the 5K. We will also have an alternative starting point for younger walkers that will shorten the course. It is a fun and healthy way to show our support for Good Shepherd. We will also be having a casual dress day on Friday, October 30 in support of the Elks Club Canned Food Drive. If your children would like to dress casually on Friday, please have them bring canned food to assembly that morning. You should have already received an order form for a special Subway lunch on Friday. Please have those forms filled out and returned with payment by Wednesday, October 28. You also should have received a permission form for the H1N1 vaccines. Please return those by Monday so we have an idea of how many students will be participating. We have also e-mailed our Acceptable Use Policy and Agreement home for you to read. Please look it over with your children and return it with your signatures by the end of this month. If you have any questions, please feel free to call. Entertainment books filled with money-saving coupons are available in the office. This should be a no-stress fundraiser; if you would like a book or know someone who would like one, you can purchase one from the office. Please stop in a take a look at one of our sample books – they have many great discounts! It certainly has been a busy week, and next week looks even more exciting. Please enjoy a peaceful weekend with your families. Karen
