Principal’s Weekly LetterFriday, October 9, 2009 I hope that you have been enjoying the beautiful fall foliage; it is a great time to come out and cheer for our Good Shepherd soccer teams. We still have a few more games left in our season - check out the calendar on the website for more details.
As you may have heard, our 5th grade teacher, David Connolly, submitted his resignation this week. For personal reasons, David is relocating to the Burlington area and cannot finish out the year at Good Shepherd. We will miss David and wish him well in his new endeavors. I have already begun to advertise for a new 5th grade teacher and will keep you informed of the progress of this search.
As cold weather approaches, we are seeing more signs of colds and flu. As we prepare for flu season, we have been reminding students of good hygeine. We would appreciate your help in reinforcing this at home. Please remind them of the following:
Wash hands often and well (for at least 20 seconds) with soap and water
Cough or sneeze into your elbow
Keep children home for at least 24 hours after they have a fever
For more information about flu prevention, please go to www.flu.gov or www.healthvermont.gov. Thank you for helping us with this.
The Kingdom Challenge Half Marathon and 5K race is fast approaching. The race is on Saturday, October 31st. This is a fun event for all ages. Good Shepherd students will be walking, running and cheering on the racers. Come join the fun! To ensure you receive a race t-shirt, and for a reduced registration fee, sign up by Friday, October 16th. You can download registration forms at www.thekingdomchallenge.com.
*Reminder: Good Shepherd does not have school on Monday, October 12th; and students will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday, October 14th.
Enjoy your long weekend,
Karen Haskins
